Many of these tasks will change, depending on your local frost dates, so adjust according to where you live.

Fall clean-up

Harvest remaining fruit and vegetables if they can be ripened off the plant. Pull up annuals and compost them.

Start seeds indoors

Seeds should be started about 6-8 weeks before your last frost, to give them time to germinate and grow before transplanting.

Harden off seedlings

Seeds you start indoors must be hardened off for about a week to prepare them for the cooler nights outdoors.
